The Truth Comes Out

Screen Shot 2018-01-31 at 4.08.30 PMI found this old blog post sitting in my drafts from early 2016.  It’s from around the time I was a monogamous knitter.

My, my.  How the mighty have fallen.

I currently have on my needles:

Two hats.

Two shawls.

One unfinished mitten.

Did any of that stop me from making this little hat for one of Chickadee’s Barbie dolls today?  Nope.

But at least, and unlike the others, it got finished.

I really would like to return to monogamous knitting.  I do find myself more at peace when working on a single project.  And I find that projects actually get completed – perhaps because I’m not feeling guilty about abandoning another project.

This means I’m going to have to muster up some courage and actually finish those neglected projects.

Because I really, really want to make these log-cabin fingerless mittens designed by Karen Templer, like, tomorrow.  Aren’t they stunning?

So this is where I need your help.  My usual “two rows a day” is working to a degree, but I really need to find a way to just plough through.  What do you do when your in a knitting slump?  Do you have any tips for me?

  1. Ooh! I just favorited that pattern and want to make it too 🙂 And I will, once I get finished with a test knit for a fellow knitter friend. I am no help on the monogamous knitting thingy because, well, I’m not monogamous. I’ve currently got three hats, a sweater, a blanket, and a pair of socks on the needles. I like having so many because they are all different size needles / yarn weights and I can’t knit for too long on small needles (sock size) or super large needles (I’m talking size US 50.) Sometimes I do find that if I just do something else for a couple of days, I can come back to my knitting refreshed.

    • I have the yarn and justification for making these log cabin mitts. They will coordinate perfectly with one of the hats I’m supposed to be making. Unfortunately, I recognized my setback for that hat project but haven’t identified a solution yet. Long story short: The dye is not set on the yarn. I guess I’ll keep meditating on a solution while working on the other three projects.
